CAN Bus error injection is used to test how a network or an individual device responds when communication is disrupted. The available tools range from simple boards with switches and adjustable resistors to sophisticated hardware and software systems that introduce precisely timed disturbances during a CAN message.
The distinction matters because “error injection” covers several different activities. A board that simulates a broken wire does not necessarily generate a CRC error at a selected bit position. Likewise, a tool that alters a CAN frame does not necessarily reproduce the voltage characteristics of a failing transceiver.
The following survey identifies representative commercial options and their capabilities. It is not an exhaustive list of every manufacturer or product.
